Art Quilts by Norma Jeanne DeHaven
As fiber art is very labor intensive, the cost of a piece is impacted by the difficulty of the design. Commissioned work is readily accepted, with the following guidelines:
The customer must be willing to work closely with me on the selection of the color scheme to be used - typically this involves providing me with paint chips, or small (½ - 1 foot) fabric samples (which can be incorporated into the piece if desired).
The customer provides the size dimensions of the display area, the desired finished size of the piece and the type of design desired. I will work within a “theme”, but I retain the right of design and the rights to the design. Due to the nature of the medium, size can vary up to 1/4" to 1" in either direction upon completion, but I strive to get as close as possible to your desired size.
The customer provides the hardware for hanging the piece - a rod pocket will be attached to the back of the piece, or if more appropriate due to irregular shape small rings will be attached to each corner.
Price will be negotiated prior to the onset of the design, and all costs of materials are included within that price. Upon acceptance of design customer will provide a non-refundable deposit of 25% of the negotiated price and final installment upon receipt of finished piece. The customer will have an opportunity to approve fabric selection and draft of design prior to onset of construction of the piece.
